Chicago-based label Tied is back with a new vinyl only release, and it features the return of Venezuelan artist Matheiu.
Ran and curated by DJ and producer Max Jacobson, Tied Records is both a digital and vinyl label. They’ve already featured some of the best such as Archie Hamilton, Topper and Martinez to name a few, and always curate the finest of the Western scene. They recently celebrated their 9th birthday, inviting down to the US Cesar Merveille to headline the party. Now presenting their 13th edition Tied welcome back Matheiu where he is joined by remixers Nick Beringer and Denis Kaznacheev.
EP title track ‘Comet 432’ is our main focus today and Nick Beringer delivers a smooth remix, masterfully implementing his minimalistic approach towards house music. Smoothing out the edges from the raw energy of the original version, he paints a groovy and deep picture that both inspires and moves, transcends and soothes.
Side B houses the detuned magic of Denis Kaznacheev, his micro productions meld together obscure soundscapes with the original musical elements to offer a truly unique work of art. Completing the record is the second of Matheiu’s original works ‘Double Helix’ and the upfront mixing of the kick really elevates the energy of the track. Thanks to the dreamy atmospherics and contrasting synths this hypnotic groove weapon will most definitely find its way into some very discerning record bags that is a certainty. Do not sleep on this fine slab of wax.
